    Looking for some feedback on your ideas, writing, or manuscript? Get in-person, real-time feedback on your writing projects from our retreat presenters. First come, first serve; spaces are limited. After registering, you’ll be invited via email to send your submission. If you would rather not submit anything and only want feedback on ideas, that’s okay too! NEW! Have you ever wanted to apply for an arts grant but but felt too overwhelmed or worried that you weren’t “good” enough? With over 20 years of experience, FCLAA’s Executive Director, Bonnie Stewart, offers lots of support and suggestions in this unique one-on-one consultation offering for individuals interested in learning how to apply for artists grants. 8/7/22 UPDATE – All planned slots for consultations are full. However, if you would like a consult, please indicate your choice and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Thank you!
  • Submission Guidelines: Poetry – up to 5 poems; Fiction – up to 10 pages, Times New Roman 12, double spaced, 1-inch margins; Nonfiction – a draft proposal OR 10 pages of a manuscript, Times New Roman 12, double spaced, 1-inch margins.

  • Cancellation Policy

    Please let us know at your earliest convenience if you are unable to attend. Cancellations made prior to August 16 will result in a refund minus a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued if you cancel after August 16. Please call Kim Hruba at (218) 469-0204 with any questions.

    Retreat participants are responsible for their own lodging accommodations. To reserve a hotel room in Fosston, please call LePier Lodge directly at (218) 435-1088.

Note: Partial scholarships are available. Please email kim@redshoeswriting.com to inquire. Residents of the seven-county service region of the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (Polk, Pennington, Marshall, Kittson, Red Lake, Norman, and Roseau) are also encouraged to apply for a Quick Turn Around Grant.
