Red Shoes Writing Retreat
weekend writing retreat
August 25-27, 2022
The Red Shoes are headed to Fosston, Minnesota!
Located forty-five miles west of Bemidji in northwestern Minnesota, this exciting retreat collaboration with the Fosston Community Library & Arts Association (FCLAA) pairs Fosston’s small-town charm and big-town vibe with the Red Shoe’s mission of empowering writers with confidence and clarity so they can step out into the world with their best story.
The retreat weekend has been designed to give each individual the opportunity to dive into the writing craft, the writer’s life, and, of course, writing! Thursday night kicks off with an informal reception followed by a Meet & Greet with our guest authors and a get-to-know-you activity for everyone. Start the mornings with a Yoga for Writers session, or shop our guest authors’ titles in the retreat bookstore. Throughout the day, enjoy panel discussions with our guest authors who will share tips and tricks for living the writer’s life and their respective publishing journeys. Workshops cover a range of genres such as children’s literature, poetry, mystery, memoir, and fiction and topics such as writing a series, crafting unforgettable characters and settings (especially from the Midwest!), and publishing. Evenings include songs and stories with a featured artist Friday and a storytelling event on Saturday night featuring YOU!
Retreat participants also have the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one consultation with one of our retreat presenters to receive feedback on writing, ask questions, and get some general suggestions and guidance on how to move forward with your writing.
Whether you write fiction, nonfiction, memoir, short stories, essays, humor, or poetry, the workshops and panels contain something for everyone, beginners and experienced writers alike.
Enjoy a creative getaway that will inspire your writing in a place where the natural landscape and local culture offer both stimulation and serenity.
